Ethics and Society

Scholar Publishing Technology was founded by a group of expert academics and scholars who had come together because they had a vision for transformative change in higher education, knowledge creation and healthy research environment.

Why did we start?

We are a Dubai (UAE) based organization which aims to transform the educational landscape and foster a culture of scholarly publishing and conference management.

In our region, the focus is on consuming knowledge rather than creating knowledge due to several factors such as limited funding and higher education institutions focusing more on teaching and less on quality research output. Additionally, researchers may face challenges accessing necessary resources, training, and academic materials.  Similarly, limited institutional access, and language barriers can restrict researchers’ ability to engage fully with current research trends, leading to an overreliance on external publications and research.

ScholarPTech, however, aims to shift the current academic culture from consuming knowledge to creating knowledge by supporting higher education institutions. It aims to do so through creating a perceptual and gradual change. Both education and research need to be perceived as tools for societal change rather than just activities primarily for academia, institutional rankings or for achieving academic promotions.

Our aims towards ethical and societal impact

  1. We facilitate sponsorships, in collaboration with HEIs, for open access journals that adhere to high ethical standards, ensuring that authors from underrepresented regions can publish their original research without financial barriers.
  2. We provide workshops designed to raise awareness about sustainability issues in education, encouraging academics and students to integrate sustainable practices into their teaching and learning environments.
  3. We encourage a culture of research and knowledge sharing, facilitating seminars, conferences, and networking events that highlight the importance of knowledge creation and ethical publishing practices.
  4. We raise awareness among HEIs about ethical issues in research publishing and the characteristics of predatory journals through workshops, consultations, and targeted campaigns.
  5. We foster and support educational and research initiatives that directly align with the UNSDGs. This aim will include facilitating collaborations between HEIs and community stakeholders to ensure that research not only informs policy and practice but also leads to tangible societal benefits and sustainable outcomes.
